Overview:

• Status report EMPA, ETH.
• Definition/distribution of the tasks to make SOCOL and FLEXPART ready for the first simulations.

Emissions:

• Review of the different source categories based on the meeting of May,7th.
• Tina pointed out the new release of the EDGAR4.2 databse up to 2010 (starting in 2000) and to be careful with possible differences with previous database.
• Dominik reported a future paper from Bastviken abouth the emissions of methane from freshwater (with a total amount of emissions around 20% of the total methane emissions). Is it already included in the wetlands emissions ?
• TransCom emissions for methlychloroform (starting in 1988).
• Transfer knowledge from Tina to Florian for the emissions in FLEXPART.

Tracers:

• The tracers will be based on the TransCom regions.
• Transfer knowledge from Tina to Florian for the tracers implementation into FLEXPART.

Spin-up:

• Stefan suggested that for each tracer an initial condition based on the methane concentration and the percentage of emissions relative to this tracer. To avoid any shift, the models could be run for one year and the values from this run could be used as new initial conditions for the tracers.

Other tasks:

• Ancelin must compare the loss rates for stratospheric methane from SOCOL and FLEXPART.
• Andrea finds a solution for the data exchange: create an ETH accound for Florian and/or see the different possibilities with Isabelle Bey (C2SM).
• Meeting between Florian and Ancelin to make sure that all the input files for the future methane simulations are the same for SOCOL and FLEXPART.
